On the 5th of September we are showcasing our project ''Growing Beauty'', which we've been working on hands-on since the beginning of the year, and we would like to invite you to learn about it and grow some beauty in this part of the city through a set of workshops, exhibition and cultural acts. You can participate for free if you need to, however we recommend a donation towards materials. Adjust your donation in the payment field.

🔨 Workshops (17:30-19:30)

We will have three in-parallel workshops that in their individual ways grow beauty in our city. Workshop descriptions are below.

Workshop 1: Grow your own mycelium art piece!
Workshop 2: Build a sandbox for wild bees.
Workshop 3: Playbacktheater: Defining moments - stories from our neighborhoods.

🚶 Guided Tour (19:00-19:30)

Take a walk around Frihamnstorget with our guide to see the final outcomes from the different youth work groups!

🎭 Circus Show (19:30-20:00)

To close the day we will have a performative piece on the theme of hope, visions of future and essentially... growing beauty!

Entwined is an exploration of communication and connection between the two artists- how we are tied together, and where we can get tied up.

The forces we put on each other with our energy
and emotions are enacted physically, as we explore the impacts we can have on each other without realizing. We want the audience to share the playfulness and joy we find in being intertwined, but also reflect on how easily miscommunication can ensnare us.

ABOUT GROWING BEAUTY:

Growing Beauty is a multidisciplinary project that empowers youth to create aesthetic, functional, and ecological structures in urban environments. The project supports three groups of youths between the ages of 15 - 25 to design and then build a functional artistic sculpture that can be used for urban gardening or, alternatively, that increase biodiversity locally. This project is a collaboration with Dodo, a Finnish environmental NGO.
